IT is not only programming – it is also systems administration, data analysis, project management, network security, mobile application development and many others. Each of these specializations requires slightly different skills and knowledge, and thus may fall under different Polish Classification of Activities (PKD) codes. Selecting the right PKD code can therefore be a challenge, especially in the context of such a rapidly growing industry.

PKD 62.01.Z Activity related to software
The name “programmer” or “software engineer” is very broad. Under its umbrella is widely understood software development.
Subclass 62.01.Z includes writing, modifying, researching, documenting and supporting software, including writing software control orders for users.
This subclass includes analyzing, designing ready-to-use systems:
– development, creation, delivery and documentation of software made on behalf of a specific user,
– writing applications on behalf of the user,
– web design.
So, if the object of the business is code writing, software development, including applications, web design, it will be appropriate to choose the code PKD 62.01.Z.
PROJECT MANAGER
PKD 70.22.Z Other business and management consulting services
This subclass includes:
– donsulting and direct assistance to businesses and other entities in the field:
* strategic and organizational planning,
* marketing strategy and activities,
* cost control and other financial issues,
* production management,
* human resource management, personnel consulting,
* planning, work organization, management efficiency,
* developing systems for keeping accounts and controlling expenses.
– consulting and direct assistance to business and government entities in the field:
* planning methods or procedures for accounting, programs related to costing, procedures for budget control,

According to the latest tax interpretations, a Project Manager in the IT industry, whose tasks include project planning, budgeting, handling project changes, conducting supervision in the IT industry, coordinating the work of analysts, developers, testers, administrators, communicating with clients, partners and suppliers, supervising project documentation, managing day-to-day matters related to project implementation, meets the conditions for taxation at a flat rate of 8.5%.
SCRUM MASTER
The activities of a scrum master, which are mainly based on – mentoring IT teams, supporting the organization in IT product development planning processes, supporting IT teams in agile product development fall under the following PKD classification:
PKD 74.90.Z Other professional, scientific and technical activities not elsewhere classified.
This subclass includes:
– other technical advice,
– consulting other than architecture or engineering consulting and management consulting,
– activities related to the development of cost estimates.
If the scrum master’s activity additionally consists of providing the following services: educating IT team members in self-organization and self-management in a manner consistent with the practices of the Scrum methodology, including conducting workshops, training and other forms of educating the team in the scrum methodology, an additional PAC code may be indicated:
PAC 85.59.B Other extracurricular forms of education, not elsewhere classified.
PAC 5.60.Z Activities supporting education. As part of its business activities.
Similarly, as in the case of the Project Manager, the performance of the IT team’s scrum master can be taxed at a flat rate of 8.5%.
QA ENGINEER
If the object of the activity is: automatic software testing (creation of test scenarios using a selected programming language, which are run automatically at each development cycle, creation of procedures and standards for programmers, development of automatic test scenarios and scripts, based on which they should write code, and others), the relevant PAC code will be:

MANUAL SOFTWARE TESTER

If the object of the business is to manage databases, create, update or collect information in a special database of the company, the relevant PKD code would be:

The UX/UI Designer’s main task is to design interactive, usable and aesthetically appealing user interfaces.
